Don Middleton and his wife Elsa are having problems in their relationship. Don works long hours and neglects his family and Elsa begins to form an attachment to a rich neighbour. Don and Elsa decide to get a divorce, unaware of the effect this is having on their daughter Molly. When Elsa announces plans to remarry, Molly runs away from home.
